This ties in to something much larger -- all the journalists who have been killed trying to photograph war crimes. Even though they own the courts and are exempt from all laws, private global military and law enforcement corporations don't like having their pictures taken while they are brutalizing or killing innocent civilians. So there is a global war on photography to make the world safe for fascism.

Indy Media videographers often are attacked while filming protests and demos, so they favor a small, relatively inexpensive videocam called the SONY Digital 8 Handycam, because it usually survives being thrown on the ground by the cops. Alternative media folks call it a "riot cam."
