PostPosted: Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:21 am    Post subject: My Status on Care2  Reply with quote

I was indefinitely suspended from Care2 and told that the only way to have my account restored was to ask Care2 staff to restore it. I did not contact them or ask to have my account restored.

After their site update, my account was restored, probably accidentally. Recently, Randy Paynter sent me a personal message, so although I wasn't using Care2, I did read his message to see if it was about the status of my account. It was not. It was a response by Randy to my article on opednews debunking his claim to nine million members. He still insists he has that many members.

I did not respond to Randy by using Care2. I asked a friend to forward my response to Randy and in my response I told Randy that my account appeared to have been accidentally restored, but since I have not gotten any notice that my account was restored, or any apology for my unfair suspension, as far as I was concerned I was still suspended, and I did not intend to use Care2. I gave Randy my email in case he wanted to communicate with me directly.

I had my account set to forward messages to me, so even when my account was suspended, I was still getting messages forwarded to my email. But recently I got a message from one friend asking why she was no longer on my friends list, and a friend request from somebody who already was on my friends list, so I went and checked and sure enough, my friends list was deleted (perhaps also accidentally, the same way my account was restored?).

All 135 or so friends gone, and I am now apparently friendless on Care2. That is SO funny. Almost everyone I know is aware of Care2's unfair suspension practices and exchanges email addresses with friends they can trust just in case either of them is abruptly suspended for no reason. Did Care2 think that if they deleted my friends list I would no longer be able to contact Care2 friends?

If you're on Care2, please let any mutual friends know what happened and give them the link to this forum and my email addy, mymark@gmail.com so that they can stay in touch if they aren't already registered here and didn't already have my email.

Care2 belongs to Randy Paynter. I was told by Care2 staff that my account was suspended. If somebody tells me that I can't come in to a place that they own or manage, I'm not going in, even if they leave the door open, unless they tell me that I may. I don't want to trespass or to be where I'm not wanted.

My feeling is that if I were to use Care2 again, they'd just suspend me again, so there's no point in it. I haven't deleted my account but I might. It is useless to me as a site for promoting my causes, because of the fact that I could be suspended at any time without justification. I wouldn't use a telephone or email service that had a habit of cutting my service whenever they felt like it, and I don't consider a website that does so to be reliable.

At this point, even if they apologized and restored my account, I would not find it acceptable unless they ended their unfair suspension practices, because that would mean that I or anyone I was communicating with on Care2 could be unjustly suspended at any time and that is not a comfortable way to communicate.

In case you missed it, I posted another comment on my story debunking Care2's claim to nine million members, partly in response to Randy:

Enjoy!

And if you haven't done so, please pass the link to that article (and also this story if you wish) on to your Care2 friends. Thanks!

to work these days since the update!  I know you've been through a great deal of non-update-related trouble there, though, so I can't blame the updates for everything.

I guess I mean that you're not really missing anything.  If I can get on and get some messages dealt with tonight, I'll check in with some people about it they're able to contact you, and make sure they can.  Maybe it'll be a good night at Care2 tonight...  Razz

I was wondering where you were.  I'm back from Greece-- was in Philadelphia,  still going through emails at this point, but I will forward out your email, and the link to the story.   You were suspended, and not banned, so I that's why your account "reappeared"--  leaving you friendless, was that a c2 glitch, or more punishment?  I can understand NOT wanting to come back.  Just want you to know it was nice having you around c2. Smilie_PDT  Anyway, look forward to reading 'your news' here.  Peace!

Welcome back, Elisa.

This close to an election all the gatekeeper sites are banning anyone who isn't a Democratic Party loyalist, so it was inevitable anyway.
