Roy Bourgeois threatened with excommunication

http://ncronline3.org/drupal/?q=node/2545

Excerpt:

Maryknoll Fr. Roy Bourgeois has been threatened with excommunication by the Vatican's Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith for his support of women’s ordination, according to a letter made public today.

The letter was written by Bourgeois and addressed to the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith. It was distributed via e-mail by Bill Quigley, a New Orleans lawyer who represents Bourgeois.

According to Bourgeois’ letter, which is dated Nov. 7, the congregation has given him 30 days to recant his “belief and public statements that support the ordination of women in our Church, or (he) will be excommunicated.”

I expect nothing less from the Catholic Church. They are a mind controlling cult, a really evil influence. He is better out of their midst. Twisted Evil

I wonder how this will end. Fr. Roy is a very devoted Catholic. I met him some time back, and we talked about it.  The church has failed to stand with him on so many issues, and it breaks his heart.
Yes, that's the way of a domineering sect, but why must a good man suffer for it...

Because he challenges their authority. They think that if he is a "devoted" Catholic, he will  accept everything the Church tells him. That's why they are authoritarian! He is caught between doing right and the will of the Church. Many people have had this experience is the the beginning of learning how much they are controlled.

The Vatican and the Catholic church have not only made mistakes, they have even acknowledged and apologized for some of their mistakes.

So while they may claim that their deity is infallible, they themselves can make no such claim.

The sooner they stop making fools of themselves by insisting on doctrines that are immoral, the better their chance of attracting moral people. Right now they only attract and keep the ignorant, the authoritarians, the amoral, and assorted bureaucrats who are ignorant, authoritarian, AND amoral. I'd say the child molester priests fall into that last category.

But of course they'll always have their genetic base, those who inherit the religion from their parents and ancestors, identify with it (I am ......), and are either too inbred to give it a second thought, or suffer from a form battered spouse syndrome by the time they come of age that does not allow them to leave.
