Some organization asked me to vote for their idea and I went to the site and found that anyone can submit an idea. So instead of voting for their idea, I submitted my own.

The top ten ideas are supposed to be submitted to Obama, but I don't expect Obama to do anything. He could if he wanted to, even though it has to do with the Constitution, now that the Constitution is just a piece of paper and the President can do whatever he wants, but he is much too beholden to the corporations that profit from the prison-industrial complex and from slave labor.

But I do think that this idea can use a lot of publicity, and that this is a way to get some. If I can round up about 300 votes, it should make it to the second round of voting, which is probably as far as it will go, but that alone would be some good publicity.

Here's the link:

Abolish "Crime" Slavery.

Criminals should be punished and/or rehabilitated, not enslaved. The 13th Amendment should have abolished slavery with no exceptions. Instead it allowed slavery in the case of persons duly convicted of a crime, but in many cases the only crimes that prisoners committed were the "crimes" of being poor and descended from slaves. We need to shut down prison plantations like Angola and abolish slavery once and for all.

Please vote for it, post it wherever you can, send it to your lists, and let's see if we can get some impetus going for finally abolishing slavery.

Thanks!  Smilie_PDT

It only got two votes besides my own, so I changed the title. Unfortunately that changed the link. The new link is:

http://www.change.org/ideas/view/abolish_legal_slavery_in_the_us

Abolish Legal Slavery in the U.S.

Slavery is barbaric and should not be legal in the United States for any reason.

Any ideas on how to round up some more votes? If it got 80 votes it would make their front page in the Criminal Justice category. That would make it visible to thousands of people, many of whom still think that slavery has been abolished.

I'm going to a Mumia rally on Sunday, so I'll pass out some flyers.

This is NOT something that they'll want on their site, but it will take a lot of votes before they notice it and delete it.  ROFL
