As most people know, Robert Mugabe, the dictator of Zimbabwe, has vowed never to leave office. His supporters have been threatening, beating, and killing the opposition. Hundreds of thousands of people have fled Zimbabwe to escape the violence. But there is something that we can do.
The problem started with an election in Zimbabwe that is now headed for a run-off. The Zimbabwean army has been going from village to village telling people that if they vote for the opposition they will be shot. People all over the world have been protesting that a fair election cannot be held under such conditions.
Meanwhile, back in the United States, many counties have decided to sue voting machine vendors for supplying voting machines that do not count the votes accurately and cannot be secured from hackers.
Electoral Assistance for Zimbabwe (EAZ) has decided to kill two birds with one stone. We are an unincorporated advocacy group and we do no fundraising. All of our relief work is done with volunteers.
The way you can help is to find out if your county is suing its voting machine vendor or can be persuaded to do so. Then you have to convince your county to donate its old voting machines to Zimbabwe. That way Americans can get rid of their worthless voting machines and Mugabe will be able to rig elections nonviolently.
Never forget that one man's trash is another man's treasure. The voting machines that have stolen U.S. elections can be put to good use to end the violence in Zimbabwe. We are certain that this can be done at no cost to us and that Mugabe himself will pay the shipping costs for the voting machines. We've been told that he has a preference for Diebold machines, but will accept whatever is available.
