100 Days to Restore the Constitution

http://ccrjustice.org/100Days/#videos

Description:

On Saturday, July 19th 2008, at the NetRoots Nation conference in Austin, Texas, Jen Nessel (CCR) moderated a panel of speakers including Vince Warren (CCR), Jameel Jaffer (ACLU), Jeremy Scahill (DemocracyNow), and Dahlia Lithwick (Slate.com) who spoke and answered questions about Constitutional Rights.

Considering the fact that the Bush administration has worked systematically over the last seven years to violate U.S. and international law, and that legal advocates and journalists have uncovered the facts and identified those responsible, this panel explored what accountability should now look like.

Although the panel was supposed to discuss what the next administration could do to change things, none of the panelists believe in fairy tales and they did not hold out any false hopes the way the paid political operatives do. Some of the panelists are people who have been litigating against torture and war crimes and/or have seen for themselves what is going on.

Most importantly, Jeremy Scahill stresses how much of the Bush regime's abuses such as the privatization of the military, extraordinary rendition, illegal wars of aggression, and genocide against Iraq, began during President Clinton's administration and that many of the Clinton advisors responsible for those atrocities are now part of the Obama team. Moreover, the Democrats have been responsible for things that even Bush didn't ask for. You'll have to scroll down on the page to find the video. It is an hour and a half long, but extremely worthwhile.

If you watch it, I'd be interested in knowing what your reactions are. I feel that it was time very well spent and that I learned quite a bit, and I've been supporting the CCR and have read almost everything that Jeremy Scahill wrote.
