Many people seem not to realize how close the US and the UK are to attacking Iran.

Another group who are vaguely aware of the potential seems to think it would be a good idea.

Is the world really that addled?

George Galloway goes a good job of laying out the reality of what the latest malevolent plan by the Bush administration will mean for the world.

Mark, I hadn't heard of George Galloway before listening to this clip, but now am well aware of his stance, which is sane in a time of much madness.
As he asked the fellow, what has Iran ever done to any of us? What right does the West have to deny the development of nuclear energy that we, in the west take so much for granted? Grrrrr.... this has gotten my blood boiling! Mad

Galloway is a straight talker, Kim. So is Tony Benn, who I hadn't heard of until Paul M. called my attention to him.

But only those of us who search out the information we want will learn the facts. Those who just turn on the TV, or read the paper, as Scott Ritter has said, only get the information that the mass media wants them to have.

I get my news because I've spent years looking for good news sources. The mass media didn't have the information I wanted, so I just ignored it. I don't read the papers, subscribe to magazines or watch TV. I read books and I surf the net. I subscribe to mailing lists and websites that specialize in the types of information that I need. And those who subscribe to this forum do the exact same thing.

Most large websites are 90% spam. They're full of commercial and political ads posing as news stories. In the information overload age, sifting through the spam is the key to staying informed. I'm delighted and honored that so many people take the time to come to this little forum to see what I've posted. It means I must be doing something right.

Like yourself, I have given up on mainstream media, realising some years ago how slanted their news is. I recently had a disussion with someone back in the US about the so called media and how they have gone from reporting just the 'facts' to giving their opinion of news. Therefore making them more editorialists (my UK spell checker doesn't like this word) rather than news reporters. It was hotly debated, however, I asked how can true news journalism be full of opinion, whether the reporter's or the entity from which it's reported, be seen as 'truth' when opinion is inserted instead of bare fact? Needless to say the debate ended with me being told I'm cynical! Shocked

lol, well if that's what I am, then so be it. I prefer to say I'm awake to the propaganda being fed to all of us in the West.
btw, Gardener's World is the only magazine I subscribe to these days and it's a rare day I read a newspaper. If I do, it's more for the laugh value than information!

p.s. don't concern yourself with English spelling vs American; I do contract work for Cambridge Uni's International E.S.O.L. program here in the UK and American English is recognised by Cambridge as valid. And... as you can see, my spelling switches back and forth, but the message remains the same! Laughing
